About this site
The Vinyl Cut is an independent publication launched in September 2025 by Ned Lannamann and Robert Ham. We aim to provide in-depth reviews of the latest vinyl reissues, as well as other exciting stories about records. The vinyl reissue market is insanely robust—in some cases, new pressings sound better than anything previously available. Best of all, we're seeing important music come back into circulation after decades of being overlooked or flat-out unavailable.
If you subscribe, we'll send you email newsletters that discuss all of this. Is the new repress of your favorite album worth the money? Which amazing obscurity has been impossible to find—until now? We're gonna tell you. Your subscription makes this site possible and allows The Vinyl Cut to exist. Thank you!
What does a subscription get me?
By signing up for the free tier, you'll get access to our regularly scheduled newsletter with vinyl reviews and news. We also have a paid tier that gets you in-depth reviews and more, plus access to the full archive of everything we've published here.
Okay. Who are you people?
We're experienced music journalists who love to listen to music on vinyl. Our bylines have appeared in countless publications and websites including Pitchfork, Billboard, Uncut, Rolling Stone, the Portland Mercury, Willamette Week, The Stranger, Paste, and more. Here, we're focused entirely on new vinyl reissues of music of all genres. Every word you read on this site was hand-typed; we do not support AI-generated writing, and you won't find any of it here.
I'm a publicist and/or label. Can I send you guys a record to review?
Of course! Please send an email to vinylcutnews at gmail dot com.
