Win a test pressing of the DSS one-step of Beck’s Morning Phase!
A test pressing of the Definitive Sound Series' one-step of Beck's Morning Phase. Note: Test pressing comes in a plain white jacket without album artwork.

One mega-rare test pressing of the Definitive Sound Series’ one-step pressing of Beck’s 2014 album will go to a lucky paid subscriber.

Every month The Vinyl Cut gives away a piece of vinyl to one of our paid subscribers. Often they are things that are available in stores or online shops; sometimes they are for highly coveted out-of-print items, and once in a while they’re things that you can’t simply get anywhere else.

Our October giveaway is in that third category. Because this month we’re giving away a test pressing of Beck’s Morning Phase—not the regular ol’ run-of-the-mill pressing, but the Definitive Sound Series’ one-step pressing, which was cut by Levi Seitz at Black Belt Mastering, pressed at RTI on Neotech vinyl, and sounds nothing short of miraculous. Read our review for the one-step (and a few others in Interscope-Capitol’s Definitive Sound Series) here:

Review: Interscope-Capitol’s Definitive Sound Series
Fancy one-step pressings of R.E.M.’s Chronic Town and Murmur, Beck’s Morning Phase, A Perfect Circle’s Mer de Noms, and Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song. A couple of weeks back, we checked out two recent releases in Warner’s Because Sound Matters series,

A quick excerpt: “The Definitive Sound Series one-step pressing of Morning Phase feels like a freshly struck 70mm print of the album. At times, this pressing even feels deliciously wet, like it’s a reel that just came out of the lab, and no light has passed through it until now. Crispness and separation aren’t really qualities this album possesses, but the purity and sonority of tone are thickly rendered, as sweet and sticky as nectar.”

It’s a tremendous and ultra-collectible piece of wax. This giveaway, though, is only for our paid subscribers. So if you’d like to become one of those, today is your day.

Not only will you be eligible for our monthly vinyl giveaways, but you’ll also get complete access to the site’s archives, with every review and article we’ve ever published. You’ll also get commenting privileges on each of those articles, plus weekly curated playlists that provide aural overviews of the best and most interesting vinyl reissues coming out every Friday. Best of all, you’ll be directly supporting The Vinyl Cut, a tiny independent publication that does not rely on ad revenue, referral links, sponsored content, or anything other than our paid subscriber tier to pay the bills. Not to sound too much like a PBS pledge drive, but reader support really is what allows the site to exist.

There. With the business spiel out of the way, let’s talk free vinyl. Here’s how to win.
